REVOLUTION CALLING – VOTE FOR MOUNTAIN DEW’S NEW FLAVOR, REVOLUTION!

Do you want power?  Mountain Dew is ready to provide it to you – and not just with a jolt of caffeine.  Do you want to be heard?  Mountain Dew is ready to listen – and not just for the change in your pocket.  The makers of Mountain Dew want you to help them decide what will be their next Mountain Dew flavor. 

 

This month three new Dew’s hit the shelves for your consideration.  After you drink them, decide which one is the best, which one deserves to be a brand new Mountain Dew flavor.  The entire country will vote, the votes will be tallied, the winner will be the new Dew. The voting started June 1, so rush over to Dewmocracy right away and start your voting.  You can dew it once a day.

 

The three flavors are Supernova, Voltage and Revolution.  Supernova is strawberry melon lime with ginseng; Voltage is raspberry citrus with ginseng and Revolution contains wild berry with, yes, ginseng.  The website provides a little more info on each drink.  The landing page is pretty cool.  It displays a map of the US and shows the voting results from each state.  It also shows the total votes.  As of this writing, Voltage is in the lead.  It has approximately 50% of the votes. 

 

That sucks because Revolution is the best.  Sure, I was a little prejudiced because of the name – it had me singing the words to “Revolution Calling” (a Queensryche song from their classic record, Operation: Mindcrime).  Revolution also reminded me of a mixed drink, a sour of some kind.  My wife said it reminded her of a margarita.  

 

The whole campaign is pretty cool.  This is a great way to ensure that a new product is sustainable.  It seems that sometimes companies take a chance on introducing new flavors.  I know there’s market research involved, but still, they don’t know for sure if the taste will take off.  Putting the responsibility of the new product into the hands of consumers is a refreshing tactic.

 

Here’s a note for parents.  Children under 13 are unable to register and vote.  You’ll have to do the voting for your kids.  Fortunately, my son and I agreed on which was the best new Dew.
