More Old Fashioned Pen Stuff

Pens rock.

So finally I relented and purchased more ink for the dip pens that we have.  Pendemonium was out of black so we tried Ziller’s Sweet Grass Green.   It says on the bottle to add some ink thickener, but I couldn’t find any on the Pendemonium website and don’t really know where else to go so we just used it sans thickener.  Still worked.

Of course, buying the ink has piqued my curiosity.  Now I want to know how to make my own ink.  I’m busy searching the Internet for that info now.  I’ve found a few places so far that include some basic recipes.  I haven’t decided what to do yet.

I’d like to turn my own pens and make my own ink.  If only I wasn’t such a complete loser I’d go buy the lathe and the blanks and some gum arabic and crush a few walnuts and beat some eggs  … and voila!  Pens and ink.  But, of course, I don’t and probably won’t.

Be that as it may, I still like pens and such paraphernalia.  Fountain Pen Hospital is another cool source for good pens.
